A superb Steve Knight Toolworks 14″ fore plane, built from three different exotic woods and fitted with a razor‑sharp 1/4″ iron—a visually striking and wonderfully functional example from one of the most influential modern wooden planemakers.
The body shows Knight’s signature lamination style, with the contrasting exotic timbers giving the plane a bold, architectural look. It is clearly marked with the maker’s name and the date “03/2001,” placing it in the early period of his most sought‑after work.
I tried this plane out and wow—it produced effortless, see thru‑thin shavings, the kind that float off the iron. The mouth is tight, the iron is wicked sharp, and the plane feels lively and precise in the hand.
A fantastic user’s plane with real visual presence—one of the nicest Knight fore planes you’ll come across.
