Superb Bailey Tool Company Woonsocket, RI Jack Plane
Lever‑Cutter Adjustment • Clear Bailey Battle Axe Iron • Cast “Bailey Tool Company” Lever Cap
A superb and very early Bailey Tool Company, Woonsocket RI jack plane, featuring the desirable lever‑cutter adjustment — one of Bailey’s most important innovations prior to the Stanley era. This example carries a crisp, clear Bailey battle‑axe logo on the iron, a hallmark of true pre‑Stanley Bailey production and a major draw for collectors.
The lever cap is outstanding, boldly cast with “Bailey Tool Company”, exactly what you hope to see on a correct Woonsocket‑period plane. These caps are scarce, and finding one paired with a matching battle‑axe iron makes this an especially strong and honest example.
