Stunning Stanley No. 3 Smoothing Plane in Original Box
Rosewood Tote with Striking Contrasts • 99.9% Original Japanning**
A truly stunning example of the Stanley No. 3 smoothing plane, complete in its original box and preserved in exceptional condition. The standout feature is the rosewood tote, which shows remarkable contrasting colors—rich, warm tones with dramatic grain that immediately catches the eye. It’s the kind of rosewood you only see on the best early examples.
The original japanning is 99.9% intact, deep, glossy, and about as close to factory‑fresh as a vintage No. 3 can get. The casting is crisp, the hardware clean, and the overall presentation is exactly what collectors hope to find but rarely do.
A premium, display‑worthy No. 3 with top‑tier wood, near‑perfect finishes, and its original box—an outstanding addition to any Stanley lineup.
