Spectacular Stanley No. 85½ Rosewood Panel Gauge
Spectacular Rosewood Long Beam & head.
A Truly Showy Example
A spectacular Stanley No. 85½ Rosewood Panel Gauge, one of the most elegant and visually striking layout tools Stanley ever produced. The 85½ is the larger, more dramatic version of the classic panel gauge, and this example has exceptional rosewood—rich color, tight grain, and that deep, warm glow collectors love.
The brass wear strip is clean and beautifully fitted, the beam is straight and full length, and the point is crisp. The proportions on the 85½ are impressive: a broad, sculpted head paired with a long, commanding beam that makes the tool both highly functional and visually showy. These gauges were never made in large numbers, and fine rosewood examples like this stand out immediately.
A top‑tier piece for anyone who appreciates Stanley’s best rosewood layout tools.
