Phenomenal Stanley No. 5½C Corrugated Jumbo Jack Plane — Type 11
3 Patent Dates on Bed • 95% Original Japanning • Sweetheart Iron • Awesome Rosewood**
A phenomenal Stanley No. 5½C Jumbo Jack Plane, Type 11, and one of the finest examples of this era you’ll come across. This plane has all the hallmark features collectors want, starting with the three patent dates cast into the bed in front of the rear tote—an unmistakable Type 11 identifier.
The plane retains an impressive 95% original japanning, deep and glossy, with only the lightest wear from more than a century of existence. It’s fitted with a proper Sweetheart‑marked iron, adding even more desirability and period correctness.
The rosewood is absolutely awesome—rich color, tight grain, and that warm, early‑Stanley look that sets Type 11s apart. Both tote and knob present beautifully, giving the plane a premium, collector‑grade appearance.
The corrugated sole adds both functional appeal and collector interest, making this a standout example of the wide‑body 5½C—one of Stanley’s most versatile and best‑loved planes.
