A fine Stanley No. 4 smoothing plane from the War‑Time era, a period when materials were scarce but Stanley’s workmanship stayed solid. This example stands out with its awesome rosewood—rich color, clean lines, and far nicer than what’s usually seen on wartime production. The plane has that straightforward, no‑nonsense build of the early‑1940s models, yet carries itself with the warmth and character of premium hardwood fittings.
A clean, honest worker with unusually handsome rosewood for the era—an appealing example for both users and collectors.
