Amazing C. Nurse & Co. Casemakers Plane — Double Iron
Fully Boxed • Adjustable Depth Stop • Marked 1/2″ on Heel
A superb and increasingly hard‑to‑find C. Nurse & Co. casemakers plane, complete with its double iron, full boxing, and the original fully adjustable depth stop. Marked 1/2″ on the heel, this plane was purpose‑built for the highly specialized work of cutting air‑seal grooves in fitted cases—a niche craft requiring precision, clean walls, and repeatable depth control.
The boxing is crisp and intact, the depth stop adjusts smoothly, and both irons are clean and properly matched. These planes were produced in small numbers and were never common, even in their own era. Fully equipped examples like this—especially with the depth stop present—are prized by collectors and by makers who still build traditional instrument, scientific, and presentation cases.
A rare, specialized English plane in excellent condition, ready for the cabinet or the bench.
